KBCA NOTES:
We thank Becky Carlson for
her years of service in the KBCA.
Becky served as our president for the last year, before becoming
president she served several years as a class rep for Class 4A. She is currently the girls basketball
coach at Iola High School whose team won the Class 4A State Basketball
Champions. Congratulations and thanks
again Becky for a job well done.
Randy Walling will become the
new KBCA president for the 2006-2007 school year. Randy was the 1st vice president last year and
has worked on the KBCA Basketball rankings. We want to thank Randy for putting the rankings out each
week during the basketball season.
The first meeting of the officers and class representatives was held on
October 15 at Buhler High School.
We recognized the new representatives in class 1A Girls Brad Hornung of
Burrton High School and 2A Boys Kevin Brown of Sublette High School.
The All-Star Games held at
Washburn University on August 2 were a great success and enjoyed by the
athletes and coaches involved.
Look for the first KBCA
basketball rankings of the 2006-2007 season to be out after November 20. If you wish the rankings to be
published in your local paper this year, please contact your class rep or Randy
Walling at Linn High School. Randy
is in charge of compiling and distributing the rankings. Contact your local newspaper if
the rankings do not appear. A
listing of each class rep and the officers of the KBCA is printed in this
edition of the FASTBREAK.
We are always looking for
scholarships. If you or someone you know would like
to contribute to a scholarship for a Kansas student/athlete please contact a
KBCA class rep, officer or Jim Baker.
We have individual, college coaches and organizations who contribute
money for this worthy cause. We usually
give $200 or $250 stipends but they could be larger if the giver so desires.
Tom Smith of Fredonia High
School is working on a new web site for the KBCA. He has the site but may not have all the material changed
over to the new site. You can try the
new site and see if it is up and working.
Email address: www.kansaskbca.com
This web site should be easy
to use and will have the FASTBREAK on it, as well as, other KBCA forms. We hope all coaches will use this web
site often. We want to thank Tom
for all of his hard work setting this site up for the KBCA.
I WANT TO THANK ALL THE
COACHES AND OTHER INDIVIDUALS THAT HELPED TO MAKE THE ALL-STAR GAMES A SUCCESS
THIS PAST SUMMER. ALSO
CONGRATUALTIONS TO THE PLAYERS AND COACHES WHO PARTICIPATED.
